DSIH Unconference during Upstream Festival

Tuesday May 28th. it is time for a new edition of the DSIH Unconference during Upstream Festival. Connect with the frontrunners of the next economy. In 2024 the Rotterdam Metropolitan area again transforms into the place where founders, students, investors, policymakers and bold corporates come together to make a positive impact on the world.

Unconference

An unconference is a participant-driven meeting. The term “unconference” has been applied to a wide range of gatherings that try to avoid hierarchical aspects of a conventional conference, such as sponsored presentations, pre-cooked panels and top-down organization.

Typically, at an unconference, the agenda is created by the attendees at the beginning of the meeting. Anyone who wants to initiate a discussion on a topic can claim a time and a space. An “unconference” is particularly useful when participants generally have a high level of expertise or experience in the field the conference convenes to discuss.

Focus of this year’s Unconference

The demarcation of the unconference will be at the intersection of three topics:

• Digital Twinning
• Healthy Urban Environments
• Ecosystems Building

These three together make up the ingredients for the recurring question to tackle in this event: ‘How can we create a healthy, sustainable environment for citizens through tech and digitization?’.

Last year this resulted in interesting and sometimes surprising outcomes, such as:

• Misinformation; what is real vs deepfake?
• How to increase urban biodiversity?
• What jobs will be there when the robots take over?

This year we will deep dive into the topics of the DSIH consortium knowledge groups, and also keep an open space for the input of our peer group: you! In the next update we will delve deeper into this year’s topic within the demarcated area’s. So keep your eyes open for the updated information.
