Building payments for platforms.

Online platforms connect thousands of buyers and sellers, but moving money safely between them is another challenge. Maurice Jongmans, CEO of Online Payment Platform (OPP), has spent the past 15 years building payment solutions specifically for platforms and marketplaces.
His journey into payments started when existing providers could not support the type of solution his company needed. Instead of settling for what was available, Maurice and his team decided to build their own. That decision eventually shaped OPP into the international fintech company it is today.
5 Founder Facts.
1. PAYMENTS BUILT FOR PLATFORMS.
OPP helps platforms and marketplaces handle payments safely and securely between buyers and sellers.
Rather than focusing on individual webshops, OPP was built around the more complex payment needs of platforms with many different sellers.
2. WHEN THE SOLUTION DIDN’T EXIST, THEY BUILT IT.
When Maurice needed a payment solution capable of handling more than 2,000 sellers, existing payment providers could not offer what he was looking for.
That became the starting point for developing OPP’s own payment infrastructure for platforms and marketplaces.
3. ONE QUESTION, ONE CHANNEL.
Maurice has a simple rule for communication: one question, one channel.
Sending the same question through email, Slack and in person does not make the answer arrive faster. For Maurice, clear communication is also about protecting time and keeping track of decisions.

4. TURNING REGULATION INTO OPPORTUNITY.
Payments operate in a highly regulated environment, but Maurice does not only see regulation as a limitation.
By understanding the rules and the reasoning behind them, OPP looks for opportunities to develop new solutions and enter new markets.
5. FROM ONLINE TO PHYSICAL PAYMENTS.
After 15 years focused on online payments, OPP is taking its technology into the physical world.
With payment terminals and tap on mobile, the company is expanding beyond online marketplaces and exploring a new chapter in physical payments.
Beyond the five facts.
Maurice’s founder story is also about learning where to focus. Building OPP meant understanding technology, regulation and people, but also recognising that a CEO cannot do everything alone. For Maurice, building the right team means surrounding yourself with people who bring qualities you may not have yourself.
That openness to learning has remained important throughout OPP’s growth. Whether it is understanding new regulation, adapting the organisation or entering physical payments, Maurice continues to approach new challenges by understanding the problem first and building the solution around it.
