Circular Factory is the start-to-scale-up program by BlueCity and Tekkoo. The program supports circular start ups with scaling up into their first line of production. After a successful edition in 2022, the application round has now been reopened. With a clear goal: build 20 circular factories in 2030. Start ups that are interested have until June 20 to apply.

Start ups that wish to participate have to meet several requirements: their product has to be made up of either a waste stream or a biological raw material, they have to write a feasible business plan and be in possession of starting capital, they have completed a successful pilot on a laboratory scale, and they have to have demonstrable market interest so that their product is commercially scalable.

The initiative for Circular Factory comes from BlueCity and Tekkoo. BlueCity is a hub for circular business in Rotterdam, striving to accelerate the transition to a circular economy by stimulating innovative entrepreneurship. Tekkoo is an innovation booster aiming to transform societal challenges into business opportunities. The municipality of Rotterdam, Renewi, Invest-NL, ISPT, and Stichting Ondernemersbelangen Rotterdam (a foundation protecting the interests of entrepreneurs in Rotterdam) are affiliated with the program as partners and actively contribute to the content of the program.
