Rotterdam Climate Agreement

In 2019, over a hundred different enterprises, institutions and municipal departments from Rotterdam mutually committed to the Rotterdam Climate Agreement, which resulted from the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015.

The purpose of the agreement is to connect the various parties so they can collaborate on the (local) ambition to realise a decrease of at least 49.6% CO2 emission by the year 2030 (compared to reference year 1990).

Klimaattafels (climate tables)

For this purpose, the Rotterdam Climate Agreement facilitates the so-called klimaattafels (climate tables), which have established over 50 climate deals with concrete measures that contribute to the CO2 emission reduction goal. Six tables have been determined: 1) clean energy, 2) mobility, 3) port and industry, 4) circularity, 5) built environment and 6) healthcare. For each of these tables, representatives of enterprises and organisations, established companies as well as start-ups, cooperate to develop innovative concepts to realise our goal. Furthermore, the Rotterdam Climate Agreement contributes to numerous other economic- and societal-sustainability goals of the Rotterdam municipality.
