Weโre excited to share that LeydenJar, a Dutch deeptech pioneer developing 100% pure silicon anodes for lithium-ion batteries, has secured an additional โฌ7.8 million equity investment as part of its previously announced capital raise. The investment was led by APG, on behalf of pension fund ABP, with participation from TNO, reflecting strong long-term confidence in LeydenJarโs breakthrough technology and industrial growth trajectory.
With this investment, LeydenJarโs capital raise is now fully closed at โฌ43 million. Over the past year, the company combined a โฌ21 million equity round, โฌ10 million in customer funding for future production, and โฌ12 million in grants and loans to accelerate the scaling of production capacity. Earlier, investments from Extantia and InvestNL were announced, with existing investors also continuing their support.
Founded and rooted in the hashtag#Netherlands, LeydenJar has grown from a deep-tech spin-off into an internationally active company and a critical enabler of next-generation battery performance. Its patented 100% silicon anode technology delivers higher energy density, faster charging, and a significantly lower carbon footprint, supporting the electrification of consumer electronics, mobility, and other energy-intensive sectors.
This new capital strengthens LeydenJarโs position as a leader in advanced battery materials in a pivotal year, as mass production preparations advance at its PlantOne facility. The funding will support the transition toward commercial production, further technology development, scaling manufacturing capacity, and expanding global customer collaborations.
The investment also highlights growing interest from large, long-term institutional investors in technologies that combine industrial scalability with meaningful hashtag#climate impact. Backed by APG on behalf of ABP, one of the worldโs leading pension investors, LeydenJar is positioned as a foundational player in future energy and mobility systems.
