Rotterdam has been selected to host the World Energy Council’s 26th World Energy Congress. In December 2023, global energy leaders from different sectors will gather in Rotterdam Ahoy, looking ahead to the next 100 years of energy.

Being at the centre of Europe’s energy transition, it is a pleasure to announce that Rotterdam has been selected to host the 26th World Energy Congress (4-7 December 2023). Next year’s Congress will revolve around the theme “redesigning energy for people and planet”.

“On behalf of the Local Organising Committee and all the Dutch Members and stakeholders of the World Energy Council, I am extremely proud that we will have the opportunity to organise the most green and inclusive World Energy Congress ever in December 2023 in Rotterdam” - Jeroen van Hoof, Chair of the World Energy Council, Netherlands, and Chair of the World Energy Congress Rotterdam Organising Committee.

World Energy Council

The World Energy Council is the oldest non-governmental community of energy leaders and practitioners. For almost 100 years, the World Energy Council has been engaging energy leaders throughout the world, with the mission to meet whole energy system challenges. According to Dr. Wilkinson (SG and CEO, World Energy Council), there has never been a more critical time for energy leaders across the globe to come together to shape a better energy future. During this Congress, there should not only be looked at the future of energy technologies, but also to society’s energy literacy, inclusion, and resilience.

“Bringing together a global community of energy leaders and visionaries in the City of Rotterdam affirms the city’s continuous commitment to the energy transition through its innovation and sustainability initiatives. The 26th edition of the conference will explore the role of connected energy societies in driving forward global energy transitions in today’s less predictable, more turbulent, and faster shifting world” – Chantal Zeegers, Vice Mayor Climate, Building and Housing (Municipality of Rotterdam).
